Angela Fox
After a trip to Barcelona in the early 1990’s Angela’s work changed direction drastically. She began to produce collage works, creating the architectural and urban. Recording places that may sadly never be visited again or architecture that will be physically altered/transformed/destroyed and that, in her mind, is simply beautiful. After the death of her mother she has felt an inner sadness that never leaves her. This is echoed in her work, providing a sense of fragility, sadness, beauty and decay.
In her 3D work she utilises lost, disparate objects, usually metal. Wheeltrims, bicycle brake pads, tape measures etc, the finding of the wonderful pieces are part of the whole process. To represent the passage of time Angela oxidises her work. Burning the wire then submerging in various chemicals/substances for different periods of time, can give surprising colours which cling to the metal. This process is out of her control and can have exciting and inspirational results.
